About This Location
The largest antebellum mansion in the South at 53,000 square feet, nicknamed the "White Castle of Louisiana" for its 22 white columns. Built in 1859 with 40 rooms, this Greek Revival and Italianate masterpiece was featured on Discovery Channel's Ghost Lab.
The Ghost Story
Room 14 is notorious - the last private owner, Miss Odessa Owen, died there and never left. Female guests have fled after feeling cold hands on their necks in the shower or watching the bathtub jolt violently across the floor. A coachman who protected guests during Civil War attacks still mans the front entrance. His presence is felt, and bells ring with no one pulling them. In the carriage house, a young girl who died 150 years ago appears on security cameras, wandering the parking lot waiting for a ghostly driver.
