The El Paso Main Library downtown sits atop ground that once served as a cemetery, its foundations literally built over the bones of the city's early dead. When the graves were relocated to Concordia Cemetery, many bodies reportedly remained in place, their rest disturbed by the construction of a building dedicated to knowledge and learning.
